Working at West Lexham is a lifestyle choice more than a job. We aim to grow personally as well as collectively by seeing our team as an extended family. Our team motto is well being by well doing.
Edmund’s vision and passion are behind the transformation of the estate. Previously Edmund ran a landscaping and architectural design business and helped establish Clear Water Revival, a leading natural swimming pool company. After taking a Masters in Sustainable Architecture in C.A.T. he decided to focus his design skills on transforming this redundant farm.
Edmund has studied many healing and facilitation techniques, notably Vortex Healing. Enabling him to keep the space at West Lexham energetically clear and energetically enhancing it where possible.
Isabelle joined Edmund at West Lexham in 2012, having trained as an interior designer at the Inchbald School of Design and studied at the Coaches Training Institute in London and New York. With these skills, she’s been a powerful catalyst for developing West Lexham’s vision, bringing her dynamic knowledge of wellbeing, personal development and creative trends to the drawing board.
If you meet Izzy, there’s a good chance you’ll meet her and Edmund’s daughters too – Maya and Cosima – along with Trixie the Springador; our onsite experts of every wild and adventurous corner to be explored!
Together with her husband, Margaret spent many years restoring West Lexham’s original but neglected buildings and gardens, as well as lovingly creating the lakeside shell house, all of which has helped make this such a special place. A barrister’s training is put to good use as a partner, but she is more often found working in the garden or even making curtains or lamenting her son Edmund’s far flung ideas!
An expertly knowledgeable leader, strategist and organiser, Sue is the glue that holds our multi-talented team together. At the core of her values sits an inspirational passion for internal culture and wellbeing, empowering each member of the team to give their best contribution to #LexhamLife. Though Sue sits busily at the helm of managing every aspect of the site, her astounding capacity to multitask means there is a high chance you’ll meet, whether she’s greeting you on arrival or strolling round the grounds on her daily checks.
Rose joined us from London to live a back-to-nature lifestyle. Her background in Psychology coupled with her commitment to sustainable living and fascination with holistic contributors to ‘wellbeing’ make her a natural partner on our journey. Rose works tirelessly to communicate every intriguing and inspiring detail of Lexham Life, helping us sing from the roof tops about the vision and ethos that makes us so unique. A driving force in any new initiatives, inspiring our guests to take an interest in what the site is achieving and always adding excitement to the journey, Rose has an insatiable appetite for learning and knowledge and can often be found perusing the estate during her lunch hour to recharge.
BOOKINGS & EVENTS MANAGER
Debra joined us from Belvoir Castle and Estate, bringing extensive knowledge of event co-ordination and guest experience with her; from outdoor cinemas to flower festivals, charity balls to 450-person weddings, she takes even the most stressful event in her stride. If planning your first retreat, preparing for your wedding or organising a corporate conference, Debra’s calm and thorough approach is sure to put your mind at ease and give you the confidence to relax and enjoy the experience.
Joining us as a housekeeper in 2015, Tara was quickly promoted to head of housekeeping and stepped into management of operations in 2019. A site-wide expert with supreme organisation skills, an eye for detail and energetic leadership, Tara’s experience with every facet of Lexham Life, from behind the scenes to front of house, makes her a shining star of the team.
Joining us with a host of skills, Darren soon became an indispensable team member. From the swimming pool to the pizza oven, log burners and gas bbq’s, it’s a distinct possibility that Darren has had a hand in many of the high standards you’ll experience around the estate – he’s even a fully-fledged cheese maker!
MONIKA SZEWC & SARAH DREWERY
Our housekeeping supervisors, Monika and Sarah, are integral to the smooth running of West Lexham; assuring every property is cared for to the highest standard, ready for your arrival. From collecting wild flowers for the dining table to folding the crispest of hospital corners, they’re masters of every detail. You’ll often see them around the site accompanied by their special helper, Roxy the Yorkshire terrier.
SCOTT TAMPIN & STUART COOPER
Our gardening team ensure that the diverse areas of the estate are maintained to a high standard at all times, whilst deploying the most efficient and effective organic practices. Whether they are tending to our Japanese garden, formal lawns, our vegetable garden, large mixed herbaceous plantings, meadow areas, orchard trees or woodlands.
The behind-the-scenes magician, Jo ensures everything (and everyone) maintains a sense of order. A natural multi-tasker, she will put her hand to anything – including the very special task of baking birthday cakes for each member of the team. Her previous work as a school teacher’s assistant has equipped her with patience in all situations, while her enthusiasm and ‘can-do’ attitude is a constant inspiration
We are keen to take summer interns who are interested in learning about conscious hospitality. Please let us know if you are interested. We occasionally take other volunteers if they are particularly interested in what we do and we have space.
