29th November – 1st December
Kamari will graduate from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2019 with an MA in Creative Producing. He is a multi-disciplinary artist with a background in Applied Theatre and performance. His work ranges from theatre, live art and documentary projects that offer fresh perspectives on minority voices. He is passionate about Kamp Kiki being a member of the black trans community and can’t wait to bring to life this retreat along with other projects that don’t often exist.
We welcome all African, Caribbean and multiracial trans identities from the diaspora. The retreat centres on an unapologetically black/trans approach to exploring how we can care for ourselves and each other.
We especially welcome you if you’ve been feeling isolated and want to find a home amongst a loving community of queers.
*This retreat is designed for people 18 years and older. There is no upper age limit; we welcome older trans people to Kamp Kiki in whatever stage of your transition.
Workshops are focused on mindfulness, self-love, practical support, creative expression and self-empowerment, harnessing skills to take back into the wider community.
The workshops included are as follows –
Creative Writing- The beauty of the love letter
Choir Workshop – The voice I have
Indian Head Massages- 20 minutes
Talk- Exploring shame and finding freedom
Fitness- Group workout
