The Village Hall is the traditional, timber beamed heart of the village. Back when everyone worked on the farm this is where the wedding party would celebrate. In fact everything was celebrated here! Nowadays it is for your private use and is perfect for an alternative ceremony space, a meal during the weekend or an after party.
For the millennia that West Lexham was a working farm, the 30 or so villagers all worked on the farm. After Church they all gathered here for festivals, weddings and celebrations. Hall Holiday cottage was the farm office until the 1990's, but the Village Hall was always the fun room! The Church was built in 960AD, with its unusual Saxon round tower is one of the oldest churches in the UK.
For weddings the Village Hall is now a much loved after party room. The music in the Barn needs to stop at 11pm. This works as a great natural break, those who are not staying at West Lexham make their way and the sleepy retire. But the Village Hall becomes the after party where the music can continue and the party roll on. There is an adjoining kitchen to serve further food and drinks.
If you need to wind down at some point, it is equipped with a projector for movie nights, a wide selection of games and an eclectic library for your perusal. It is a great place to sit back and chill, play board games, read books and watch movies in front of the fire. We provide all the firewood for your stay.
If you would like to keep the Barn for drinking and feasting and want another room, besides the Church to decorate and make your own for the ceremony the Village Hall works beautifully. It is also a good option as a backup if you plan to have the ceremony outside but the weather is not kind.
