The Moon Fool Workshop Residency that has just taken place 22-26 June at The Quadrangle Trust in Kent promised 5 days of personal and ensemble exploration with the body, movement and text in dialogue with the surrounding environment. The experience turned out to be much more than A Midsummer Night's Dream...   "The combination of musicality training and physical training allows for a freeing of the voice, body and mind.... ."  "I really engaged with working outdoors, it was …

If you’d asked us – that’s me and fiancée Christine – what our idyllic weekend getaway would be, well we’d have said…   -         out in beautiful countryside, set in nature -         not too far from London -         quirky, interesting and full of character -        &…

What's in a story? You might say storytelling is as old as the hills.  For hundreds of thousands of years people have grouped together around campfires, down the pub, or on long walks to tell stories.  Stories about their land, about the origin of life, and about our relationships with one another.  For the great British public this might be settling down in front of the telly to watch their favourite soap; for the aboriginal communities it might be singing a story …

Personal Resilience   We spent the last three days  sharing stories and asking powerful questions. Realizing and exploring this with the projects that are present it becomes very clear and apparent that it really all starts with YOURSELF. I can only expect others to change if I am seriously willing to change and challenge myself and the way I look at the world today. A very powerful question is “What do I need to let go of/open up to to find my place now?”…

by Dana Gornitzki   Albert Camus once said: "Charm is the way of getting the answer yes without asking a clear question."   So very true, although it does seem that in our hurried lives not many people are using their charm. It's so simple: a smile, saying please and thank you, waiting in a queue...   Have manners disappeared or are the chaos and manic pace of our modern ways the main obstacles to a happy, relaxed and more charming existence?   Life can be so …

We have just hosted our first brewing course all about hops. With 70 different Hops from all over the world for brewers from the Anglian Brewers Cooperative to rub, sniff and compare, plus two expert speakers to divulge all there is to know about hops, it was certainly a feast of flavour!    Why such an in depth analysis of this ingredient of brewing?   It is said that Norfolk produces the best malt in the world. A fact testified to by the fact that it is exported all o…

Last weekend we hosted a fantastic gang of adventurous birthday revellers for a tree-house building course. Henry and Evan of High Life Treehouses led the build and converted a dozen pairs of very keen and willing hands and into a super-efficient dedicated tree-house construction team! We were blown away by the quick-learning, can-do attitude and fantastic sense of fun that the team brought to the project. At the start of the project there was a show of no hands for building experie…

Xskool: Breathing The Same Air "Xskool is a kind of travel agency for eco learning journeys. Our idea is to equip mid-career architects and designers with the new skills they need to help their organization transition toward sustainability. We went to West Lexham intending to discuss xskool as an idea - but by the end of the wekend, we agreed that xskool had already started! The setting and atmosphere, and West Lexham's amazing team, worked magically in helping people in our group to …

A Trip to a Norfolk Paradise After the buzz of the Royal Wedding and a very late night at my own Dis-Loyal Wedding Party, I caught the train, bleary eyed and a little hung over to West Lexham on Saturday morning. I had offered to come volunteer for a few days over the bank holiday in return for bed and board. My research about the place had yielded little: some nice photos on the holding website, a tantalising glimpse of a swimming pool and lake from Google Earth; but it was Edmund's descr…
